Xerox also has a brand that is very familiar with laser technology, since they are pretty much the birthplace of the photocopy machines. However, provided us with the Xerox Phaser 8550 ADP laser printer is a printer with solid ink works: a kind of wasblokjes to be melted. Actually, this is more of the inkjet printer family. With 30 pages per minute in terms of functionality, this Phaser 8550 ADP in any case a direct competitor of the color laser such as HP Color LaserJet CM2320 and so we will see it as such and testing. Xerox offers a CD with an installation video, but in fact the installation of this printer so much easier than a color laser that we would be surprised if you could not do without that video. But it is a nice gesture for Xerox.
The software installation process appears very simple: the software itself or looking for the printer is connected locally or somewhere on your network. The printer also prints a brief overview of menus and additional instructions off after it for the first time, and it warmed up. This heat can also take some time because it also must melt the solid ink before printing. Xerox gave us no time to warm up, but the first time we switched the printer still took over half hour before the instructions were printed. The printer itself is quite compact and ivory. That compactness is of course because there is no four toner board should: The Phaser 8550 uses solid ink blocks that are fairly small and a specific form to give you a piece with a certain color ink only with respect to the opening can push that to that color is intended. Each block is 1000 pages and you can color each time a dozen blocks in the printer cartridge.
In terms of usability, we have no complaints whatsoever. Both the operation of the printer, the included software and Web interface is a true example. The web interface shows a list of standard features and printer status, with the right buttons for the five main headings. Such a section opens as a tab interface with clickable subheadings far left for the selected tab. The permanent ink ensures extremely beautiful, rich and full color printing with a natural shine. But there is now a handicap to determine that the resolution is lower than a color laser. The hardware resolution to this Phaser 8550 600 dpi, but that is true for a few color lasers in this test. However, there are color laser 1200 dpi hardware out and get this Phaser 8550 is not. It seems, however, given the brilliant quality of printing only a problem if you often CAD / CAM documents which need to print very high resolution required: you may still be better than looking forward to a color laser. But for any other kind of business documents, you will most seen by the eyes hardly find a better print than the Phaser 8550.
Although the Phaser 8550 also supports PCL5c, install only one Xerox PostScript-control under Windows. More is not necessary, we only used by other brands that provide controls for all printer languages. And so it is actually a relief to encounter even a manufacturer that not all unnecessary software in Windows. In our speed tests the Xerox wanted only 13 of 20 PDF pages. We did not know why: he gave no error, but stopped just after the 13th leaf. Probably a bug somewhere? Xerox must in any case have to check and repair. We have therefore applied the rule of three in the table based on the time sheets for 13 to calculate what time would be 20 pages.
Print speed does not appear very high in comparison to the color laser printer and while printing delivers beautiful view particularly shows in the quality testing that we perform, he occasionally dropped some stitches in the smallest details of that print. Unfortunately, the page shows the highest cost of all. That we just do not see a competitor of the color laser, Xerox! After consultation with Xerox shares this manufacturer us that they like their customers Nashuatec a contract offer that the price of printing and the full interview in the omnium premises includes. By the conclusion of that contract called Xerox Page Pack customers pay 0.1 euros per printed color page, regardless of coverage. The operating cost of the printer is so much lower for customers who sign such contracts.
